Rooted in Hawai’i.

Growing Future Generations.

Preserving Hawaiian cultural knowledge and integrative healing traditions through education, community, and service.

On the north shore of Kauaʻi, where the mountains meet the sea, ancient wisdom continues to be passed from hand to hand — breath to breath, teacher to student, generation to generation.

Our Mission

The Akamu Institute is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving Hawaiian cultural knowledge and integrative healing traditions, advancing healing education, and reconnecting people with the wisdom of nature through education, wellness, and community. Rooted in the wisdom of the islands, we create opportunities for people of all ages to learn, heal, connect, and serve.

We believe that when individuals heal, families grow stronger, communities flourish, and future generations inherit a deeper connection to the land, culture, and one another.

Our Vision

We are building toward the creating of The Akamu Living Learning Center—a place where healing, Hawaiian cultural studies, regenerative agriculture, and environmental stewardship come together.

Our vision is to create a sanctuary where children, educators, families, and visitors can gather to:

  • Learn Hawaiian cultural traditions

  • Experience healing through nature

  • Regenerative agriculture and native plant education, and lā’au lapa’au

  • Preserve ‘ike kapuna (ancestral wisdom)

  • Develop future generations of leaders and healers

  • Integrative healing education

  • Yoga teacher trainings that respectfully weave together Hawaiian values, nature-based wisdom, and contemporary wellness practices

  • Wellness programs for teachers, healthcare professionals, first responders, veterans, and keiki

  • Youth leadership

  • Community gatherings, ceremonies, and cultural events

  • Scholarships to make healing and education accessible to all

Every donation helps bring this vision closer to reality
